About the Film:
Currently in post-production, All The Memory in the World is a long form experimental video essay focusing on photographs and photographers in movies. Edited from thousands of films, All The Memory in the World explores, among others topics, clichéd images and sounds associated with onscreen photographs (including the cinematic device of piano music used as a memory trigger), auteur theory in relation to onscreen photos, changes in photographic technology and its effect on narrative, personal obsessions with individual images (like the haunting portrait of Laura Palmer from Twin Peaks and the ever changing family snapshot from Back to the Future), and the development of a secret cinematic death wish against photographers…


About the Filmmaker:
Mike Olenick is a filmmaker, director of photography, and editor. Recent filmmaking activities include: starring in, shooting, editing and directing Spaceboy (a sci-fi opera set in outer space); shooting and editing Seven Songs About Thunder (an HD short by Jennifer Reeder); and editing China Town (an experimental documentary about global copper production made from thousands of still photographs, directed by Lucy Raven).

Mike’s films have screened at film festivals and venues around the world, including the World Wide Video Festival, Cinematexas, L.A. Freewaves, the Cinémathèque Française, Chicago Underground Film Festival, Oberhausen, Viper, and the Brooklyn Underground Film Festival. His short The Son of Samsonite screened on Dutch Television, received an Honorable Mention at the Ann Arbor Film Festival, and was featured in Astria Suparak’s touring program, Let’s Get Tested. He received an Ohio Arts Council Individual Artist Fellowshipin 2004 and his short Rabid won the Audience Award at Cinematexas 11.
